Success Story

World Health Organisation

The Objective

The objective was to create an online press conference for WHO Africa to share the most updated data. Furthermore, the press conference aimed to disseminate recommendations derived from the health crises on the continent to the media.

This served as an opportunity for journalists worldwide to gain a deeper understanding of the Omicron situation in Southern African countries, which at the time, reported the highest caseloads globally. Additionally, the conference offered valuable insights into the progress of vaccine distribution in Africa, highlighting growing concerns regarding global vaccine inequality.

The Strategy

Increasing the media attendance at the WHO Africa’s event which addressed the Omicron variant amid the current media focus on the Omicron variant in Africa, APO Group diligently steered media attention towards WHO Africa's factual information, expertise, statistics, challenges, and achievements regarding the world's fifth wave of COVID-19.

The Service

Services provided by APO Group included Online Press Conference.

APO Group facilitated the dissemination of WHO-endorsed medical recommendations and strategies to combat COVID-19, ensuring their widespread coverage and sharing by the media.

APO Group played a crucial role in communicating African countries' adherence to international health regulations, exemplifying transparency in information sharing, particularly concerning the Omicron variant.

This effort dispelled stereotypes by highlighting how African nations are intensifying measures to detect and control the spread of the Omicron variant amidst a surge in weekly new COVID-19 cases across the continent.

The online press conference was attended by hundreds of journalists across Africa
