Media Coverage Guidelines & Code of Practice

Thank you for your interest in covering Unstoppable Africa 2026.

The GABI media team, coordinated by APO Group, is available to support accredited journalists and media partners with venue access, camera positions, interview requests, speaker availability, session information, and official photography and video assets (gabi.ungc@apo-opa.com).

These guidelines are intended to provide a clear framework for media coverage while ensuring that journalists and media partners have the freedom to undertake legitimate editorial reporting of the event.

    01Media Accreditation

Media credentials are issued to the named individual and are non-transferable. Accredited media are expected to use their access solely in connection with their professional coverage of Unstoppable Africa 2026.

    02Editorial Use

Accredited media may capture and use photography, video, audio, quotations and other content from the event for genuine editorial coverage, including:

    • News reports and broadcast coverage
    • Interviews and event-related features
    • Digital and social media coverage published through the outlet's editorial channels
    • Editorial clips and excerpts used as part of reporting on Unstoppable Africa and the issues discussed at the event
    • Journalistic archives maintained in connection with published coverage

Media are encouraged to clearly identify Unstoppable Africa 2026 when using event footage or other event-specific material as part of their coverage.

    03Commercial and Promotional Use

Event footage and other material captured at Unstoppable Africa may not be used for commercial or promotional purposes unrelated to editorial coverage without prior approval from the event organisers. This includes:

    • Advertising or commercial campaigns
    • Sponsored, branded or advertorial content presented as independent editorial coverage
    • Promotional material for another event, programme, product or service
    • Corporate sizzle reels, capability decks or business development materials
    • Use that suggests endorsement, sponsorship or affiliation by Unstoppable Africa, GABI, its partners or participating speakers
    • Commercial licensing, resale or distribution of event footage to third parties or stock-media platforms

Where a media organisation wishes to use event footage beyond its editorial coverage, it should contact the APO Group media team to discuss the proposed use.

    04Sessions, Speakers and Interviews

Main-stage sessions are on the record unless otherwise indicated by the event organisers.

Media are welcome to request interviews with GABI leadership, speakers, partners and other participating stakeholders. The APO Group media team will coordinate interview requests where required.

Media should respect any instructions regarding off-the-record discussions, restricted sessions or individual speaker requests.

    05Performances and Special Content

Certain performances or content may be subject to specific recording or usage restrictions due to rights-holder requirements.

Where restrictions apply, these will be communicated to accredited media in advance where possible or by the event team on site.

Media are expected to comply with any such specific restrictions.

    06Official Event Content

The Unstoppable Africa team will produce official photography, video and livestream content. Selected official assets may be made available to accredited media upon request.

Access to official event assets does not extend the permitted uses outlined in these guidelines. Any specific restrictions communicated with an asset must also be observed.

    07Attribution and Responsible Use

Media are encouraged to attribute event-specific footage and content to Unstoppable Africa 2026 where appropriate and practical.

Accredited media should not present footage, interviews or other material captured at the event in a way that could reasonably suggest endorsement or affiliation that does not exist.

    08Addressing Concerns

If the event organisers identify use of event material that appears to fall outside these guidelines, the APO Group media team will contact the relevant outlet to discuss the matter and, where appropriate, request correction, attribution or removal.

The intention of these guidelines is to support a positive working relationship between Unstoppable Africa and the media, while protecting the integrity and appropriate use of content associated with the event.
